Lonnie Walker IV, who is set to join LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022-23 season, once touted a unique conspiracy theory live on air. In fact, the 23-year-old guard professed his strange belief that the earth is an illusion. This is not the first LeBron James has had a teammate dive deep into the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories.
Walker has agreed to a one-year $6.5 million deal, according to recent reports. The San Antonio Spurs rescinded their qualifying offer to extend the 6’4″ guard’s contract. As a result, Walker became an unrestricted free agent.

Meanwhile, the Lakers wasted no time to secure the 18th overall pick in the 2018 draft. The LA team has very limited cap space because of their star-studded roster. Therefore, they were keen to utilize their taxpayer mid-level exception efficiently and bring home a decent role player.
Lonnie Walker’s bizarre theory
Lonnie Walker espoused a bizarre theory on live TV. In the interview, he professed his fascination for conspiracy theories. However, he dismissed Kyrie Irving‘s infamous flat earth theory as falsehood.

Instead, he put forward a very new idea. In fact, he admitted that he believes that the earth we live in is actually an illusion. In fact, it is a simulation devised by smarter people to trick us into believing our surroundings as reality.
“When you talk about facts and things of that nature, it’s amazing to me we’ve discovered so much about this world, yet we don’t know anything about this world,” Walker stated.
“The earth is not flat, in my opinion, but the earth, on my conspiracy, the earth is definitely an illusion,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also flirted with a similar idea in the past. So Walker certainly is not the first to tout the concept.

After a disappointing 2021-22 season, LeBron James and the Lakers face an uphill task to deliver next season. Lonnie Walker IV could be a crucial addition to the team.
The 23-year-old is explosive inside the arc and can attack the rim. Moreover, he has also shown flashes of brilliance from the deep. Walker could provide LeBron James with the necessary help he needs to transform the team into a legitimate title contender.
