This vintage picture of LeBron James carefully scrutinizing Kevin Durant’s game in the NBA Summer League has left NBA fans amazed. In fact, it is an intriguing sight for many to witness two of the greatest rivals of this generation appreciate and study each other’s game. Incidentally, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would meet each other in the NBA Finals back-to-back in 2017 and 2018.

LeBron James is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, along with Michael Jordan. However, LeBron James had to face an obstacle that didn’t necessarily obstruct Jordan’s path- The greatest team ever compiled in the history of the NBA.

In 2016, LeBron James led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a historic NBA championship. In fact, King James registered his name in the history books by defeating a 73-9 Warriors team led by Steph Curry. However, the Cavaliers’ glory would be limited to only one year after Kevin Durant joined the Warriors to create a very controversial ‘Superteam’.

LeBron James’ Cavaliers and KD and Steph Curry’s Warriors would meet in the Finals twice; the Warriors would emerge victorious on both occasions.

In fact, Kevin Durant would make his mark in the NBA by winning two Finals MVPs in a row. On the other hand, LeBron James would have to settle for back-to-back Finals losses. However, his valiant efforts in the Finals would garner much appreciation from the fans.

Meanwhile, this recently resurfaced image from 2007, before the two great players became rivals, has attracted the attention of many fans. In the image, LeBron is carefully watching KD play in the Summer League.

In 2007, LeBron had already spent four years in the league. He would single-handedly carry the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals that year.

On the other hand, KD hadn’t entered the league yet. In fact, the Seattle SuperSonics would draft the 6’10” forward that very year. Therefore, the picture acts as a nice record of the NBA’s decorated history.
