LeBron James is a global icon and one of the finest players of his generation. He has inspired many to become NBA players and to play like him. The same thing that makes LeBron one of the greatest players to ever do it is also what makes it difficult for others to match him. LeBron arguably has more natural talent than the majority of individuals in the world playing this sport.

Although not everyone can be LeBron James, that does not mean that no individual can. A recent Instagram video has shown us a man on a military base playing basketball. His playing style uncannily resembles LeBron’s. It caused quite a stir among fans online.

He got comments like, “Man is protecting the country and the rim.”, “He’s so good haha wth.”, “Bro got da wrong contract.”, “Bro signed up for the wrong draft,” and the quintessential “LeBucket.” The assistant coach of Louisville and former NBA player, Nolan Smith asked Austin Parker (the player in question) whether he has any college eligibility.

When it comes to basketball, there are certainly many hidden gems all across the world. Not everyone can join the NBA due to various circumstances. In terms of basketball ability, being compared to LeBron James is no doubt an accolade by itself. Austin Parker has commanded respect both on and off the floor from many people.

LeBron James: Was he a hidden gem?

Lebron James was seen as a potentially great basketball player since he was in high school. He forgoed college after completing school so that he can directly compete in the NBA. ‘The King’ was then drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003.

To compare someone with LeBron James, they have to consider the insane talent he had when he was young plus the longevity he has shown in his career. It’s almost improbable a player like him will ever come again. There was Michael Jordan, of course, but he didn’t play for two decades straight.

Another hidden gem in the vein of Parker is the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. He played very few matches in local Greek leagues before being discovered by the scouts. Nobody in the draft room knew who he was. He turned from an unknown quantity to arguably the best player in the league. And two MVPs, one Finals MVP and an NBA title say it all.
