The offseason is around the corner and teams are making adjustments to their roster for the next season. Out of all the teams that were eliminated from playoff contention, no one expected the Lakers to end up in the same place. The Lakers had one of the worst seasons since LeBron’s arrival.
Last year was full of poor performances, chemistry, and decisions among the team. It all came down to the last 10 games when the Lakers clinched a Play-In spot. After LeBron’s unreal dominance in the last few games, the Lakers couldn’t make it to the Play-In. Right after the regular season, the Lakers fired their head coach, Frank Vogel.
LeBron James favored one of the three finalists for the head coaching job

The Lakers reported their final three candidates for the head coaching job. The Lakers need someone who can better understand the players’ game and improve chemistry. The roster is quite old and if the coach can understand the veteran presence, it will be better onwards for the Laker team. Out of the three, Darvin Ham is the one favored by LeBron James according to a competing source.

This will be LeBron’s last season with the Lakers under his contract. After the next season, James will have to hang on for another season before his son Bronny gets drafted, for it is what LeBron is looking forward to, playing with his son. For one last season with the Lakers, James would want to be a championship contender.

Apart from a need for a good head coach, the team is yet to decide their decision of dealing with Russell Westbrook.
The team has reportedly asked the head coach candidates what they would do with Russ. Darvin Ham started off as an assistant coach for the Lakers in 2011. He spent time in Atlanta and Milwaukee where he won his ring alongside coach Mike Budenholzer.

Ham also played in the league for 8 years, winning a championship with the Pistons in 2004. It will be interesting to see whether the Lakers decide to go with Ham.
