Bass is not an overnight success, however, with a nearly 20-year accomplished political career. She started as a community activist and eventually also became one of the frontrunners for being US President Joe Biden’s candidate for vice president.

Caruso put more than $100 million into fueling his own candidacy and was on significant air-time as well. But in the words of Fabian Nunez, Bass “didn’t really demand that kind of attention. But through her work, very quietly, [she] was a powerful force and people were drawn to her”.
