The NBA is entering the final stage of the trade deadline. With February 9 nearing in, several big names might hit the block. One of the most prominent talents is none other than Chris Paul. The veteran point guard has been mentioned in trade-related talks as the Phoenix Suns reportedly want a long-term replacement. The 12-time All-Star might have led them to the finals a few seasons ago. However, he arguably isn’t enjoying his prime anymore. Likewise, with trade talks surrounding him, there is a chance he could end up with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers have longed to make an upgrade at the point guard spot. Russell Westbrook has arguably found a solid role as the sixth man on the team. However, there are concerns about his production in the postseason. Likewise, with their current roster, an old-school talent might suit them best. CP3 is probably the first name that comes up as the only remaining old-school point guard.
The added advantage lies in his close relationship with LeBron James. Both the veterans have the same objective, to win a championship. And with the Suns actively looking to replace Paul, the Purple and Gold might be able to steal him.

Chris Paul and LeBron James together on the Lakers?
According to Bleacher Report, a four-team trade could see the five-time assists leader to land in LA. Notably, it involves the Lakers, Suns, Charlotte Hornets, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. As far as the Lake Show goes, they would have to send out Westbrook along with draft capital to make up for his salary. Michael Jordan’s Hornets would take in Brodie to be a compliment for LaMelo Ball. On the other hand, the Suns would go for Minnesota’s D’Angelo Russell. The 27-year-old is a modern-day guard, but at 27, he fulfills the long-term demand.

The biggest concern would arguably be health. Notably, Chris Paul has been injury prone later in his career. This season, the veteran point guard has played in 31 games so far. Another concern would be his declining impact. There was a time CP3 would send chills to either ends of the floor. However, in this stage of his career, his offensive production has heavily declined. The 38-year-old is attempting a career-low 11 shots per game.
On the flip side, Paul serves as a timely scorer on a roster with two heavy scorers. Notably, the Lakers have both LeBron James and Anthony Davis as their leading scoring options. With Paul putting up 14.5 points this season, he could step up when neither gets going. In addition, his court vision and IQ remain among the best. The 12-time All-Star is also shooting 41% from three, a number the Lakers can surely do with. Paul has also proven to be a leader to the young troops and can arguably make an impact on the Lakers’ young core.
