LeBron James, despite having a solid season at a personal level, has had little success with the Lakers. The situation remains so bad that there is every chance of him not making the playoffs. Despite LeBron being in strong contention for the scoring title, the Lakers are currently at the 10th seed in the West and hanging by a thread for a postseason run.

One would imagine that the ‘King’s lack of success has stayed only on the basketball court this season. However, that has not been the case. In light of LeBron’s Space Jam sequel, the NBA star joined Shaquille O’Neal and Dennis Rodman as players whose movies they nominated for the Razzie Awards. Moreover, both LeBron’s and Rodman’s movies won 3 Razzies each.

The Razzie Awards Nominees

Despite ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ being a highly anticipated film, it turned out to be a nightmare for LeBron. This was because the movie was nominated for 4 Razzies and won 3 of them. Among these included the Worst Actor award which LeBron won.

However, LeBron is not the only NBA star to have been nominated for the Razzies. Both Shaquille O’Neal and Dennis Rodman were also among the big name nominees for the awards. Back in 1998, Rodman won 2 Razzies for his role in the movie ‘Double Team’. He played the role of ‘Yaz’ who was an arms dealer in the movie.

On the other hand, Shaq, despite being nominated for a Razzie on 3 occasions, was lucky enough not to win one. His appearance in the movies ‘Steel’, ‘Blue Chips’, and ‘Blended’ nearly got him the titles of Worst Actor (for Steel), Worst Supporting Actor (for Blended), and Worst New Star (for Blue Chips). However, it was Kevin Costner, Kelsey Grammer, and Anna Nicole Smith who edged out Shaq on the 3 occasions, respectively.

LeBron James this season

Despite being a Razzie Award winner, LeBron has some on-court achievements under his belt this season. He recently took over Karl Malone for 2nd in the All-Time Scoring List and had two 50-point masterpieces for the Lakers. Additionally, he also became the first player to enter the 30K, 10K, 10K club.

So there is something to be happy about for LeBron, after all. However, with the regular season winding down, the Lakers will have to win all their remaining games. This will allow a solid shot at the postseason and a chance for LeBron to redeem himself against the Phoenix Suns who knocked him out last year. Regardless, only time will tell the tale of LeBron and the Lakers this season.
