It is no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers need a blockbuster trade if they want to make it to the playoffs. The Lakers are one of the bottom five teams this season. At this rate, a championship run seems like a farfetched idea. An NBA Insider recently reported on his brief conversation with Lakers superstar LeBron James about the franchise’s trade decisions. However, when news of his diminishing patience came up, James took time out to clarify the matter.

With Anthony Davis sidelined due to a foot injury, the pressure solely remains on the King to lead the team. Extending their winning streak to five games last night, the 17-time champs have managed to get some hold on the season. However, in the long run, it may not account for much if the purple and gold don’t pursue a potential trade.

Based on a brief chat with LeBron James, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that the four-time NBA champion was running out of patience. James’ frustration was evident upon being asked about the franchise’s reluctance to trade the future first-round picks to improve the roster.

“Y’all know what the f–k should be happening. I don’t need to talk,” LeBron told Amick.

However, shortly after the article was released, the Lakers superstar made a few clarifications of his own. James tagged Amick on Twitter and made it clear that his patience was intact. Furthermore, he explained that his responsibilities mainly include looking over his teammates.

“Hey Sam actually my patience isn’t waning. You make it sound like I’m frustrated when I’m really not. I told you over and over, my job is focused on the guys in the locker room. My job isn’t the roster. That’s the reality of that conversation,” King James tweeted.

The 18x NBA All-Star concluded by saying that his mood did not reflect anything other than calmness.

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a winning streak, defeating five opponents back-to-back. However, placed eleventh in the Western Conference rankings, a trade seems like the only way to redeem themselves as a possible top contender. According to The Athletic‘s Sam Amick, the best trade option that the Lakers could come up with is to include Russell Westbrook and the first-round picks in 2027 and 2029.

“Man, listen, I play the game. I worry about who’s in the locker room. I can’t—it’s not my … it’s not my job. I can’t do nobody else’s job,” James told Amick.
