In just a few days, the Lakers have jumped from the 12th seed to the 8th seed. In addition to this, the fans are pleasantly surprised to see the team’s transition in comparison to their performance in the first half of the season. The toughness brought in by Anthony Davis is something to note about. Yet again today, the 6’10 star dropped 37 points and 15 rebounds in just 36 minutes to get the Lakers their third consecutive win.

Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s twin 27-point performances were not enough for the Oklahoma City Thunder to edge past the Lakers. In their third face-off this season, the Lakers have bagged their second win against OKC. When OKC faced the Lakers the last time, the outcome was the same. However, this time, the Lakers did it without the main man LeBron James.?

Joining the 4x championship courtside, Hollywood superstar Will Ferrell was in attendance to watch the Lakeshow. A few weeks back, Ferrell was also seen at Indiana during the game between the Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers, where he was joined by American rapper 50 Cent. American singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy Winner Olivia Rodrigo was also in attendance to cheer for the Lakers.

Though the Lakers have successfully made it to the top 8, avoiding play-in might not be in their hands. The Warriors are back to the 6th seed with their win today and are two wins ahead of the Lakers. The Lakers can move to the 7th seed if they bag their fourth consecutive win against the Bulls on Sunday, given the Wolves lose. However, a few losses from the teams at the top along with consistent wins from the Lakers can help them avoid play-in, which seems like a long shot.

Nevertheless, the Lakers will be pleased to make it to the postseason, be it directly or through the play-in tournament. With LeBron expected to return soon, LA will prove to be a tough matchup for anyone in the West.
