On popular social media application Instagram, the 17-time All-star is a certified icon. On Friday, he achieved a stupendous record of amassing 100 million followers. James joins an elite list of athletes to reach the mark, which includes Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.

With just over 2,200 posts currently, the former NBA champion has considerably fewer posts than many others to have crossed the century. A baffling statistic however, is that ‘King James’ has more followers than many professional leagues in the world. This includes the likes of the NBA (60M), NFL (21.7M), MLB (7.9M), and more. When added together, the total comes up to just under 90 million followers. And with the brand new season approaching, LeBron’s numbers show no signs of stopping.
