LeBron took to Twitter to thank his mother for all her love for support once the All-Star captain selection was out. LeBron and his mother share a very special and unique relationship. She has been his biggest supporter in his wins, and his shoulder to cry on in losses.
LeBron has been voted as a captain of the All-Star team every year since the NBA introduced the new formula of having captains and drafts for All-Star games. This started before the 2018 exhibition game and gives the opportunity to the captains to draft their own team.
LeBron James has been the captain of his conference for 5 years straight. In those 5 years, LeBron has competed against extremely skilled captains like Giannis, Curry, and Durant. For the second consecutive season, he’ll rekindle his rivalry with Durant. Durant, on the other hand, is expected to miss the game due to an injury.
LeBron James is being selected to the All-Star team for the 18th time. LeBron has received the honor of playing the All-Star game every year of his career. Moreover, LeBron has been undefeated in the All-Star games since 2018. He has always won when he has drafted his own team.

LeBron James and his mother
LeBron has always credited his mother, Gloria, for all his success. Their family was not financially stable, and she had to work extremely hard to put food on the table.
LeBron praised Gloria as the cause for his success in a touching essay for Maria Shriver’s “The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back from the Brink” (via TODAY) in 2014.
“You think LeBron James is a champion? Gloria James is a champion too. She’s my champion,” he wrote.
LeBron called his mother right after winning the 2020 NBA championship. James has always shared his happiness with his mother. “Everything that you had been through, everything that I’ve seen, there’s nothing that can stop me,” James told his mother. “I hope I continue to make you proud, mom” exclaimed James.

James’ selection as All-Star captain is yet another indication of how remarkable it is that he is still performing at such a high level at the age of 37. We should never take him for granted, no matter how bad this year has been for the team.
