The Los Angeles Lakers are having all sorts of problems this year, in what is one of their worst seasons in a while. Apart from players not performing, injuries and positive cases of Covid-19 have played their part too. The team still relies on the brilliance of a 37-year-old LeBron James.

The Lakers have received criticism from all around and this time it’s one of James’ former teammates who joins the Lakers bashing bandwagon. After a humiliating defeat to the Denver Nuggets, Channing Frye minced no words while talking about the Lakers.

Amidst a losing streak of three games, the Los Angeles Lakers team has allowed 127, 125, and 133 points to be scored against them. Channing Frye, the former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate of LeBron James, had a lot to say about the defense.

He said, “It’s hard to be that bad. They should’ve been beat by 50. So undisciplined, double-teaming for no reason, not rotating, guys not communicating… I’ve seen some bad basketball, this is probably one of the worst games I’ve seen from a team that has good players on it.”

Frye held nothing back as he went all out to humiliate LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The problem with LeBron James’ Lakers

Channing Frye was spot on while criticizing the Los Angeles Lakers. Their dismal defense has let the team down on several occasions this season.

Although LeBron James has been trying to carry the team all alone, he receives little help from others. Russell Westbrook, the star acquisition from Washington Wizards, has been heavily bashed for his bad decision-making.

The game against the Denver Nuggets gave a glimpse into how bad the situation is with their defense this year. During the third quarter, the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic found himself completely free, with only Malik Monk trying to guard him.

The injury to Anthony Davis has just made it go from bad to worse for the Lakers. His absence in the defense has caused the Lakers to concede more. NBA legend Magic Johnson gave his thoughts regarding the Lakers situation, “Lakers can accept being outplayed but we deserve more than a lack of effort and no sense of urgency.”

The loss against the Nuggets pushes the Los Angeles Lakers back to below 0.500. They currently sit in 8th place in the Western Conference and are struggling for a playoff spot.
