One of the biggest stars in the NBA, Russell Westbrook, has impressed NBA fans over the years with his career trajectory. Westbrook has played at four franchises in the NBA as of 2021. He currently dons the purple and gold jersey of the Los Angeles Lakers. A former NBA player recently demanded a trade of Westbrook away from the franchise.
Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins asked the Lakers front office on an ‘ESPN’ show. Perkins absolved another Lakers star Anthony Davis of any blame as he targeted Russell Westbrook. He made these comments after the Lakers lost yet another game, this time to Brooklyn Nets on Christmas Day.
Perkins said, “And it’s not looking good. A move has to be made. I don’t think it’s Anthony Davis, I think it’s Russell Westbrook. I think they got to move on from him.” Another former NBA player Jalen Rose highlighted the Brooklyn Nets’ threat with the duo of James Harden and Kevin Durant.

The Lakers signed Westbrook in 2021 from the Washington Wizards.
Despite the predicted fanfare at the Los Angeles Lakers, Westbrook has not fulfilled fans’ expectations. The loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Christmas Day with Westbrook performing below optimal standards has added to the Lakers’ woes. Westbrook scored only 13 points despite spending 37 minutes on the court.
Lakers fans have raised issues with Westbrook committing many turnovers. Before the game against the Nets, Westbrook had averaged only 19.8 points. During the game, however, he managed to keep his turnover count to just three. Predictably, this has not excused him from criticism from analysts in the media and fans on social media.
