NBA superstar, Stephen Curry is probably one of the best shooters ever in the history of the league and is considered one of the best point guards ever. Curry has helped the Golden State Warriors to 4 NBA championships so far. Even though he was the main man for the Warriors, he didn’t win the Finals MVP in the team’s first 3 title wins.
Finally, in the last season, Stephen Curry won the Finals MVP as he led his team to another title. He has also won the NBA MVP award twice. And is one of the very players to win it back-to-back.

However, no one predicted Stephen Curry would become the best ever in the history of the NBA. And not many thought he would be an MVP someday. The Warriors selected Curry as the 7th overall pick of the 2009 NBA draft. In his rookie season, he averaged 17.5 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. But the Warriors were struggling and had a record of 26 wins and 56 losses.
During an interview with Stanford Graduate School of Business, the former MVP shared some intrinsic details about his rookie season. He disclosed the advice of superstar LeBron James when they first played against each other.
LeBron James’ advice to a rookie Stephen Curry
During Curry’s rookie season, James was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers. And when they faced each other for the first time, an established superstar, James had some advice.

Speaking in front of the students, Curry said, “…And he told me like, ‘Literally all you have to worry about right now is kind of looking into a keyhole and worrying about what are you doing on a day-to-day basis. What habits are you building that are going to set you up for success down the when things line up.’ … And so, valuable obviously advice from him to kind of set it up. And then 6 years later we are playing in the Finals. So pretty crazy journey coming from humble beginnings.”
Stephen Curry also talked about the team’s record when he joined them. He said that it was mind-boggling to think where the team is now after just 20 wins in his first season.

After an injury-laden third season, Curry came back stronger and averaged over 20 points per game in his fourth season. Then in the 2014-15 season, he won the NBA MVP averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, and 2 steals per game. As Curry mentioned in the interview, LeBron James and Stephen Curry played against each other in the Finals that year. And Curry’s Warriors came out winners against the Cavaliers.
