LeBron James must be a pleased dad, as Bronny James, his eldest kid, is chosen for the NBPA 100 camp. Sporting stardom is not simple. One must work hard, remain focused, and grind every single day. The athlete must learn to deal with the pressure and expectations that come with being a good or a great player.

However, if your father is a professional athlete, the pressure is multiplied tenfold. If your father is LeBron James, then good luck emulating that. However, Bronny has taken the first step in doing that by being selected for the NBPA 100 camp. James was so proud that he put up a story of his son playing on Instagram.

He wrote, “Him!!!” above the video and under it gave a king/prince emoji. If LeBron is the “King”, will Bronny be the “Prince”?

Is Bronny like his father LeBron James?

Bronny is currently only able to play basketball for his high school. If his progress goes smoothly, his career could just take off as his father did. LeBron was a  highly coveted high school prospect. But unlike LeBron, Bronny won’t be drafted by an NBA team at the age of 18. The rules state that the player has to be at least 19. Bronny is neither like his father nor like Kobe Bryant. He is not a high school prodigy but he still might get an NBA team due to his name.

He is playing for Sierra Canyon High School. Bronny received scholarship offers from several universities in 2015. The ones that have received considerable press coverage were Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, and UCLA, with Kentucky being the only school to have offered a scholarship. Naturally, LeBron prohibited his then ten-year-old from receiving scholarships.

One of the top teams in the high school circuit was Sierra Canyon. Ziaire Williams, who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, was in it. Bronny’s freshman year ranking was in the 20s. During his junior year, however, it had fallen to 52. In middle school, Bronny was named the top player in the class of 2023. He is a guard, unlike his dad, and has great handles with a good shooting stroke according to scouts.

The question now on everyone’s mind is whether Bronny can match his father or not? Only time can tell. We have to wait until 2024 to know whether he will get a college team or not.
