The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t made any trades yet this off-season. As the free agency lingers onto the second month, there have been no trades involving big names. Amid all the uncertainty, LeBron James still reportedly hopes to reunite with a $90 million worth player and possibly get rid of Russell Westbrook in the process.

While the Lakers have been trying to get Westbrook off the roster, the Brooklyn Nets are patiently waiting for a good trade offer for their disgruntled stars, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. There have been many reports over the past few weeks about Irving’s willingness to play for the Lakers and LeBron James’ insistence on getting him on the roster.

According to the latest report by Marc Stein, James “badly wants”?Kyrie Irving to replace Russell Westbrook as the franchise point guard. Although the saga has dragged on for over a month, James is still hoping to get the best roster possible to go for another championship.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been reported to be hesitant in giving up two future first-round picks. While they will be willing to give up other assets along with Westbrook, they don’t seem to want to lose any more picks. The Lakers exhausted most of their future picks in acquiring Anthony Davis and Russ.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets are in no rush to trade either of their star players. They are looking for a historic haul in return for Kevin Durant and that has possibly held up any trade for Irving. The Nets want to make sure Durant is off the roster before entertaining any Irving deals.

LeBron James was instrumental in getting Westbrook to the Lakers last summer. The Lakers star insisted on getting the former MVP but things turned sour quickly. While James had a historic season himself last time around, the Lakers had a disastrous campaign where they finished outside the Play-In Tournament spots.

It was evident early on that their game styles don’t mesh well. However, the way the season unfolded was still very surprising to see. At a recent Summer League game, James and Westbrook were both present but sat across each other at different ends of the court. According to reports, they have shunned each other and this caused an uproar in the NBA community.
