The NBA has been home to some of the greatest basketball players if not all time. While many of these individuals are worthy of being in the GOAT conversation, there are two players who dominate in this category. The debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan has been an endless cycle, with everyone having their picks. Recently, LeBron gave himself the edge which has Jordan fans going nuts.
Both LBJ and Jordan are pioneers of the sport of basketball. Both these legends have achieved everything the sport has to offer and proved they can win on the biggest stage. Hence, it isn’t surprising to see analysts having mixed picks with their GOAT for the sport. However, James and Jordan have stayed rather silent and not said anything about the conversation. But that was only till now. The King broke his silence and called himself the greatest basketball player.

And as anyone would imagine, this did not sit well with the Jordan fans.
LeBron James the GOAT of basketball?
While in an interview before the All-Star game, James spoke about the moment he felt he became the greatest basketball player to love. It all comes down to the iconic 2016 NBA finals. With the Cavaliers nearly down and out, James led a historic 3-1 comeback and made history. And for the King, that took him above everyone else in the GOAT conversation.
He said: “That moment I was like I am the greatest basketball player people have ever seen in all the facets. Like I can play 1 to 5, I can guard 1 to 5, just literally like doing something that’s never been done in the history of the sport. Teams that go down 3-1 were like 0 for 32 in finals history. There was nobody every coming out of thee and nobody gave us a chance.”

You can’t be the GOAT when you create a super team and lose to Dirk. That’s how high the standard was set by Mike
