LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers look done for the season. As they continue to drop games, they could potentially be out of the play-in tournament qualification. Such a poor outcome was least expected when Westbrook joined forces with LeBron and Anthony Davis. However, it has been a complete nosedive for the franchise. At present, they sit 9th in the West with a 29-40 record after their latest loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite the losses, the one reason why fans watch the Lakers is because of LeBron James. At age 37, James continues to defy the odds as he sits among the highest scorers of the league. Moreover, he even had two 50 point performances.

But as the Lakers have continued to lose, many have questioned if LeBron has now simply shifted focus to scoring points. One such person is Skip Bayless. In a recent interview, Bayless explained this point of view and also spoke about how LeBron’s scoring would affect the GOAT debate with Michael Jordan. He also added how LeBron’s current stature of play looks a lot like Russell Westbrook.
Skip Bayless on LeBron James
Following the hammering of the Lakers by the Toronto Raptors, Skip Bayless expressed his view on LeBron on the ‘Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED’ show.
“He (LeBron James) is completely unplugged when it comes to trying to win games. To me, it’s all about scoring. I still believe he can win the scoring title this year,” said Bayless.
“It would be a feather in ‘GOAT cap’ because you could say ‘Oh! I won the scoring title at age 37 in year 19,'” he added.
Thereafter, Bayless explained that it is difficult to take in how the Lakers have lost a majority of their matchups with a player like LeBron. Thereafter, he added how LeBron’s leads the league in turnovers since the All-Star break, and compared him to Russell Westbrook.

“He leads the NBA in turnovers. So he’s gone Russell Westbrick since the All-Star break, turning the basketball over,” explained Bayless.

Clearly, Bayless feels that LeBron has simply shifted his attention to scoring rather than wins. And upon doing so, it has resulted in plenty of turnovers like Westbrook since Russ leads the league in turnovers. However, putting up huge scoring numbers at 37 is a great achievement and will give him a boost in the GOAT debate against MJ.
Regardless of the GOAT debate, LeBron will look to step away from the NBA with at least another title. And while that is not possible this season, he will surely go after it in the coming years.
