4x champion LeBron James is one of the greatest talents ever to play in the NBA. King James has dominated the league for as long as one can remember. His on-court heroics have heralded him to the top of the ‘GOAT’ debate. As a freakish athlete, James tried his hand at numerous sports growing up but ended up playing basketball. Incidentally, an all-time great tennis player reacted to the possibility of LeBron James playing tennis professionally a few months ago. NBA and tennis fans also responded to the take.

Earlier this year, former World no. 4 tennis star, James Blake, thanked LeBron James for picking the ‘right’ sport through a post on social media. Blake’s intriguing comment earlier this year garnered a lot of attention. Similarly, the comment also drew the attention of Chris Evert, whose glib response sparked comparisons between James and another tennis legend.
Fans call LeBron James ‘lucky’ after a tennis twitter storm
The famous saying,?“Stars always shine no matter where they are,”?holds true to most All-time level talents in sports. Athletes who have achieved their sport’s pinnacle undoubtedly have the potential to do the same in another sport. Legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Deion Sanders, and others are just a few examples of freakish athletes who hold the ability to dominate outside their primary sport.?
Former tennis player James Blake well understood this notion and took to social media to express his gratitude to LeBron James for sticking to basketball. Blake thanked the King for not playing tennis and intensifying the brutal competition at the top. Unsurprisingly, the polarising comment drew attention from both worlds.

Chris Evert, the legendary tennis player of the 70s and 80s, also reacted to Blake’s comments. However, her reaction had no words and just a bunch of laughing emojis. Blakes’s initial comment and Evert’s hilarious response garnered mixed reactions from millions of fans. Some fans also declared that LeBron James was ‘lucky’ that Serena Williams, who is considered by many to be the ‘GOAT’, didn’t play in the NBA.
Here are some of the fan reactions on Twitter:
LaBron is just lucky @serenawilliams didn't choose basketball.

Hahahahaha true!!! And the Big 3 probably agree! Although Kygs would have gotten to play one of his idols….

LBJ seems like a man who will be very good in any kind of sport, but in tennis, not seeing much player similar to his size has tops the game. Was it because 'muscles' not the key in tennis? 🤔

Too big and heavy in the upper body.
Not ideal for tennis.— Brian Darrah 🎨 (@BrianDarrah7) July 19, 2022

Blake played in one of the toughest eras in tennis history: the era of ‘The Big Three.’ For the past 15 years, tennis has seldom seen anyone outside the three (Rodger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic) at No.1. The dominance of the three has left the legacies of other legends lost in the history books. Blake is among those legends who suffered a similar fate. Thus Blake’s comments on LeBron James can be justified. Another potential All-time legend in the competition would have left Blake holding the bag.
