Bob Sturm, an author for The Athletic, recently criticized LeBron James for calling out reporters during the press conference on Wednesday. The renowned writer received pushback from one of the fans who supported LeBron James’ remarks. Another fan claimed that the 18-time All-Star was addressing an issue that was necessary to bring up. The fan also suggested that LeBron might have been simply wondering out of curiosity, as he receives various questions on off-the-court issues.

Sturm criticizes LeBron James

Bob Sturm argued that LeBron James should have addressed the issue directly instead of reprimanding the reporters. He also criticized LeBron’s show ‘The Shop’. Sturm called King James an ‘egomaniac,’ claiming that he created a show just to give his opinions that nobody had asked for.

Moreover, Sturm responded to a fan’s comment on his opinions regarding LeBron James. Bob Sturm wrote, “I can live with that. LeBron couldn’t hold Ali’s jock”. Incidentally, a 1957 photo of Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones attending a desegregation protest set the Internet ablaze recently. Therefore, LeBron had questioned the media on why the topic was not discussed like the Kyrie Irving controversy.

The reputed writer pointed out boxing legend Mohammed Ali being a forerunner and stalwart in addressing social issues. On the contrary, Sturm implied, LeBron James tried to produce a similar impact on society without tackling the right problems. The veteran writer also argued that opinions from active players were causing harm to the league.

However, the conversation gave clarity to the perspectives of both sides. Some fans had an issue with reporters calling out Black athletes for controversial statements, but staying silent when it came to people of other communities doing the same.

What did LeBron James say about Jerry Jones?

Recently, a photo of a 14-year-old Jerry Jones surfaced. He is seen standing in a hurdle of white students trying to block six Black students from entering the North Little Rock High School in 1957.  Moreover, Jones also has a  reputation for never hiring a black coach during his tenure.
