Los Angeles Lakers fans got a glimpse of what the showtime Lakers looked like back in the day. The team went against their neighborhood rival, the Los Angeles Clippers in their second game of the new season. And a fastbreak play had the whole stadium up on its feet and roaring. Even though the Clipper eventually came out on top, the Lakers squad gave a glimpse of what is possibly yet to come this season.?

The game was fairly close for most quarters. The Clippers saw the return of their star player, Kawhi Leonard as he came off the bench. The Clippers team had three starters and three bench players scoring in double figures.?
A glimpse of the showtime Lakers
But the main highlight was a fastbreak play in the fourth quarter. With eight minutes left in the fourth, the score was tied at 87 a piece. Clippers’ Paul George brought up the ball and drove to the rim.?
However, LeBron James met him at the top and blocked his shot which sent Paul George to the floor. Austin Reaves grabbed the rebound and started a fastbreak play running down the floor. He had Lonnie Walker IV on his side and James right behind him.
At first, it seemed that he would?ve passed the ball to James for another fastbreak dunk. But it was Lonnie Walker IV who climbed the ladder to flush down the monstrous alley-oop thrown at him.?
It was a glimpse of the old showtime Los Angeles Lakers from the 1986-87 era. Reaves lobbed the ball with one hand and Walker soared through the air to jam it down. The bench absolutely erupted which led the Los Angeles Clippers to call a timeout.
Here are some of the reactions to that play from NBA Twitter:

A bright young squad for the Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers have lost the first two games of the regular season and are not off to a good start. The team shot 9-45 from beyond the arc with a 20% three-point percentage for the game. And even after the 21 turnovers caused by the Clippers, the Lakers could not come out on top.?
However, on the other hand, Lonnie Walker IV had an amazing game. He was the Lakers’ leading scorer and finished the game with 26 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and that monstrous fastbreak alley-oop.
