The Los Angeles Lakers have finally given fans a reason to celebrate. On Friday night, the Lakers managed to pull off a satisfying victory over the Denver Nuggets. Lakers fans saw an all-round team performance on the court, and this dazzling performance was led by LeBron James’ 30 points and Russell Westbrook’s 15 points with 12 assists and 11 rebounds. With that said, Russell Westbrook made history in this game and left fans applauding his efforts.

At the start of the season, fans verbally attacked Russell Westbrook for his sluggish performances. However, things have taken a 180-degree turn since. Fans online can be seen and heard praising the nine-time All-Star. This season, Russell Westbrook has an average of 7.5 assists, 14.7 points, and 5.9 rebounds per game so far.

Additionally, on Friday night, he created history. As reported by the Los Angeles Lakers Twitter handle, Russell Westbrook became “the first Laker in franchise history with multiple triple-doubles off the bench”.?Furthermore,?Westbrook also has the most triple-doubles in NBA history.

Fans make bold claims after Russell Westbrook creates history

Fans were quick to react to the news of Russell Westbrook’s record. They claimed that the Lakers are now showing signs of being true champions and there is nothing that can stop them now. One tweet said, “Lakers are back and league is in fear of us. It?s over. Championship is ours now”. Many fans spoke highly of Westbrook. Some called him to be the “greatest laker of all time” while urging the organization to extend his contract. Many also stated that Russell Westbrook would be awarded the 6th Man of the Year trophy this season.

Westbrook applauds team effort in post-game interview

Despite having put up an excellent performance, Russell Westbrook focused on applauding the efforts of the other?Lakers stars like Austin Reaves and Thomas Bryant. Coming off the bench, Bryant put up 21 points and Austin Reaves contributed 16 points. During the press conference, while complimenting the bench, Westbrook said, “I live for these moments. That’s why I play basketball, to see others do well.”
