Inside the NBA co-host and NBA icon Charles Barkley could be making headlines soon with another show reportedly finding its way under his belt. Barkley has been known for his bold takes on current affairs in the sports world. Paired with his fun-loving personality, his popularity is widely-acknowledged and it just might get him a regular appearance on another weekly show under broadcaster CNN. And the Philadelphia 76ers legend would be pairing up not with fellow host and icon Shaquille O’Neal, but with another renowned television personality.

Charles Barkley, who already has an extensive deal with TNT, may end up jumping ship to CNN and joining forces with television personality Gayle King to host another basketball segment on the network.

Charles Barkley may appear on another primetime show

Both CNN and TNT are owned by Warner Brothers Discovery. So, one good thing is that Barkley would not have to terminate his ongoing contract. In earlier reports, he mentioned how Gayle King is the reason why he would consider the shift.

Sir Charles has also stated that the shows on CNN need help and was himself willing to offer some. Now, according to Variety magazine, Barkley and King may be finalizing a deal for a primetime hour of basketball every week on CNN.

Sources close to the deal have stated that it may end up not being finalized. CNN executives were unavailable for comments. However, according to an earlier report by the Wall Street Journal, CNN has been looking to finalize deals with many other personalities such as the basketball veteran for quite some time. Barkley and King seem close to shaking on the deal after all.

If the deal goes through, CNN viewership would be looking at a huge boost, given Barkley?s fan following and his interesting takes on all things basketball. Unfortunately, fans would still miss his partnership with Shaquille O’Neal.

Charles Barkley has been an essential part of the Inside the NBA?crew on TNT. Fans have gotten used to seeing the 11-time All-Star locking horns with Shaquille O?Neal on the show in banterful tussles. Interestingly, Barkley has said numerous times that this would be his final contract with TNT.

It would be indeed be a tad heartbreaking to see the 1993 NBA MVP break the bond he has developed with the co-hosts on the show and even fans over the years. However, as with Barkley, one never knows where he may end up making an appearance – he might even continue on both shows!
