It seems like the Ball family wastes no time in making an impact in the league. As the Charlotte Hornets downed the Atlanta Hawks once again with a 113-105 win, LaMelo Ball became the highlight of the match after setting a record that proved all his haters wrong. Even LeBron James couldn’t help but congratulate the rookie on his incredible feat.
LaMelo has always been a subject of criticism for many reasons; but as the season continues, he is giving lesser and lesser reasons for that to happen. First, it was all the dramatic antics that came from his father, LaVar Ball. Although it did help him gain some popularity even before joining the league, some may believe that it put him in a very negative light.
Also, the fact that he isn’t an ordinary rookie put extra pressure on the youngster. Instead of choosing the same ordinary path like most players to join the NBA, Melo decided to take an alternative and lesser-known route. He played overseas in Lithuania and Australia before coming to the league instead of going through the college system.

The skepticism about his potential grew after his preseason debut. When playing the Toronto Raptors, he finished with zero points on the scoreboard. But it looks like he will not rest until the perception about him changes.
LeBron James shows his support to LaMelo
In their first matchup against the Hawks, Gordon Hayward was the one who stood out. He finished with a career-high 44 points and led the team to a win. Next up, LaMelo overshadowed everyone with his fantastic triple-double of 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.
This phenomenal record meant that he surpassed Markelle Fultz. As Melo etched his name in the NBA’s history books, LeBron tagged LaMelo on his Instagram story and wrote, “Tough @Melo! Congrats Lil Bro.”
And when the GOAT shows his support, you can’t help but show your appreciation. LaMelo reposted the story and wrote, “My brudda good looks gang”.
