The Los Angeles Lakers have just ended their abysmal season. They played their last game of the 2022 run against the Denver Nuggets. The season ended on a positive note as the Lakers emerged victorious with almost a B-team. However, there were not many positives to take from the season for the Lakers.
The Denver Nuggets, who themselves had rested their main players for the playoffs, fell short 141-146. Austin Reeves of the Lakers forced the game into overtime and the Lakers scored 11 in the OT whereas the Nuggets managed only 5. The game was tied at half time and the largest lead the Nuggets could manage was 13 points at the end of the third quarter. This was a good comeback victory for Frank Vogel’s side especially after the season they had.

Malik Monk was in top form for his team. He has impressed in parts all season. However, it has only been LeBron James who played with consistency for the whole season. Malik Monk scored 41 points. Austin Reeves scored 31, which included the lay up which forced the game into OT.

In the grand scheme of things, the game was not of much importance. However, as it turns out, it might have been the last game for Frank Vogel as the Lakers’ head coach.
Fans go berserk as Lakers are planning to move on from Frank Vogel
The NBA fans reacted in all sorts of ways while reports suggested that this was Frank Vogel’s last game as the head coach in Los Angeles.

Vogel led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship and assuredly will be a candidate again in the league’s future head coaching cycles.

They underpaid him, publicly said he was their third option, blamed him for the organization being cheap and incompetent. And this is how they choose to fire him. Shameful. Nobody should work for this team.

The season has been a miserable failure for the Lakers. A lot of things have played a part in a season where the team has underperformed by a long mile. The Lakers even failed to qualify for the play-in tournament, which was one of the biggest let downs in their history. The team on paper did not look like a championship contender but certainly seemed like one fighting for the playoffs.
Frank Vogel could not bring out the potential of his team. Even though this is also true that the roster was not that impressive to begin with. LeBron James recorded 30.3 points per game for more than 50 games in the season and the Lakers still could not utilize his top class performances.

WATCH THIS STORY: LeBron James’ tweet that proved that things aren’t right within the team.
The team heavily lacked direction, fighting spirit, defensive input, offensive output, and winning mentality. Moreover, the Lakers did not look like a complete team. Maybe a change of head coach is what they need going forward, or maybe the 2020 NBA championship winner Frank Vogel should have been given another year to turn things around.
Frank Vogel blatantly reacted to the reports of the team firing him, saying that he has not been informed about this decision, which brings a little uncertainty.

However, one thing that is absolutely certain is that the Lakers need big changes for the next season. Not only a change in coach but also a change in roster. So that Los Angeles Lakers can be back where they belong in the pecking order of the NBA.
