The Brooklyn Nets managed to scrape by the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night with a 108-107 win at the State Farm Arena. Kevin Durant finished the game with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, it appears that the Hawks weren’t too happy with the result. A player got into a kicking incident and the league subsequently announced that he had been fined a hefty amount of $25,000.?In fact, if trade rumors are to be believed, the Los Angeles Lakers had even pursued the Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic in early December.
Bogdan Bogdanovic pays a heavy price
NBA communications released a statement the day after the game in regards to the incident. It read, “Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic has been fined $25,000 for kicking the game ball into the spectator stands, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.”

Apparently, Bogdanovic had kicked the ball at the conclusion of the game. It was apparently a reaction after Dejounte Murray missed a three-point attempt.
According to Sports Illustrated, the Serbian player has been influential in taking the franchise to the last two NBA playoffs. Bogdanovic is currently in his third season with the Hawks. He had only made his debut in the regular season in December after suffering from a knee injury. He has been averaging 17.4 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Bogdanovic finished the night with 14 points and 2 rebounds. His efforts were in vain in the end as the Hawks recorded their second consecutive loss against the Nets.
Did the Lakers pursue him?
In December 2022, the NBA world witnessed the Lakers’ front office trigger several speculations, with potential trades to enable the team’s gaping problems. According to NBC Sports, the Lakers needed efficient shooting and great wing depth.

Eric Pincus of?Bleacher Report recommended that the Lakers go all in just before the trade deadline. He wrote, “The Lakers may need a team or two to quit on the season if they want high-quality players in return, but that may only happen closer to the February 9 trade deadline. Potential targets could include Bogdan Bogdanovic and John Collins“.
