With back-to-back 60-point games on two different nights by two different players, the NBA world has been on edge this week. Karl-Anthony Towns and Kyrie Irving both dropped 60 points each, leading their team to wins. Naturally, two amazing performances elicited a strong reaction on social media.

Since 60-point games are not a common occurrence, watching two players perform at a high level was iconic.

Some users, however, brought up the NBA MVP honor. This includes Lakers legend Magic Johnson?who wanted to include KAT in the MVP debate. Fans, looking at Irving’s own 60-point game, reacted accordingly.

Fans react to Johnson’s tweet with Kyrie Irving claims

Following Towns’ 60-point night, Johnson tweeted about him being in the running for the MVP award. While some agreed and wanted KAT to be included weeks ago, some were left confused. As Irving posted 60 points of his own, a few fans also included his name.

However, with the 29-year-old being away for multiple games this season, there is no real consideration for him as the MVP. According to fans, just one 60-point game does not make one an MVP candidate.

Some fans agreed with Johnson, but halfway. Though they think KAT is an amazing player and is shining for the Minnesota Timberwolves, they do not think he should win the MVP award. At least not when players like Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic are more likely to win.

Certain fans even added that 60-point games are no way to spot an MVP candidate.

On his end, Towns has been leading the Wolves to numerous victories this season. “I just went out there, tried to be really aggressive,” Towns said. Irving’s approach was slightly different, but produced the same results in the end. “It just shows you we’re on our way to history,” Irving added as he dropped most points ever in the Nets history.
