Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is more than just one of the greatest NBA players ever. His battles with HIV has inspired millions worldwide to remove the stigma around the disease. Moreover, he is also openly supportive of his gay son EJ and the LGBTQ community.

Dwyane Wade, a former NBA champion like Magic, took inspiration from the Lakers legend in a unique way. Wade’s daughter, Zaya, came out as transgender in 2019.

Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union took inspiration from Magic and supported their child unconditionally. Talking about inspiring D-Wade and people around the world, Johnson was delighted and blessed.

Magic Johnson once talked about what inspiring people means

Magic Johnson, a five-time NBA champion and a successful businessman, is an inspiration to millions. Not only through his actions on the court, but he inspires people through his philosophy and parenting as well.

Former NBA champion, Dwyane Wade is also a fan of Magic in that respect. His daughter, Zaya, has recently come out with her true identity and DWade has been quite supportive of his daughter’s decision.

Interestingly enough, Magic Johnson’s parenting of his son served as an inspiration to Wade and his Hollywood actress wife, Gabrielle Union. Talking about reaching out to people through his actions, the Los Angeles Lakers legend once revealed what it meant to him.

He said, “So, thank God we have influenced people, whether it’s on the court, off the court and just in our everyday walking life. If we’ve done that, then we have been a blessing.”

Magic’s son, EJ Johnson, came out publicly in 2013. Johnson and his wife have left no stone unturned in their parenting and have been a constant source of support for their son. 

Johnson was one of Wade’s biggest supporters when his daughter came out

Magic Johnson has openly extended his support for the LGBTQ community following his son’s coming out in 2013. When Dwyane Wade revealed his daughter’s new identity in 2019, he didn’t have a lot of support.

Wade once said that his family didn’t have many resources to rely on. However, Johnson and his family were more than happy to help. They extended their help and Magic Johnson also gave some advice to Wade.
