Eminent Hollywood actor Will Smith made headlines all around the world a few months ago with his actions. In case you have been living under a rock, Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock live on TV following Rock’s jokes during the Oscars. This triggered responses from the NBA community too with stars like Stephen Curry and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar giving their thoughts.

Recently, Smith issued an apology for his actions that sent shock waves throughout the world. Interestingly enough, Kareem feels the damage has already been done.

In his article, Kareem bashed Will Smith for his actions. Moreover, he reflected upon how Smith’s actions proved to be detrimental to his community.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend further used the example of celebrities like Beyonce and Dwayne Johnson to bash Smith. According to him, Smith’s ‘fall from grace is like an asteroid falling into the Black community’.

Kareem wrote,The popularity of a Beyonce or Will Smith or Dwayne Johnson makes all people of color feel a little more comfortable in our skins. That’s why the impact of Smith’s fall from grace is like an asteroid slamming into the Black community. It’s not fair to him to bear that burden, but it’s a fact nevertheless.

This is not the first time Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has given his thoughts on Will Smith. The 6 time NBA champion wrote a similar piece on Smith a few months ago after the infamous Oscars incident.

Will Smith sent headlines around the world with his actions during the Oscar ceremony this year. After comedian Chris Rock made a joke regarding Jada Smith, Will’s wife, the actor went on stage and slapped Rock while millions around the world watched.

Kareem went all out to bash Will Smith after this incident. He talked about how Will slapping Rock represents his wife’s inability to defend herself. Jabbar wrote,But by hitting Rock, he announced that his wife was incapable of defending herself—against words.
