NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rips apart 2022 blockbuster
Avatar 2: The Way of Water was in the works for quite some time. The first installment of the Avatar film series was released in 2009 and was an instant hit. Although the same can be said about part 2, a lot of fans did not like this film.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of them. He had bashed the film on his blog when it initially hit theatres and Kareem has touched upon it again. Safe to say, his feelings for the film have not changed.

Kareem wrote, “Yes, all this could have been mixed together to create something wondrous, but sadly it just goes through the motions, like a Valentine Day dinner for a couple wanting to break up. There’s an old-fashioned ‘50s vibe to the plot. Mostly, the men are strong, silent, and manly, the women emotional and spiritual. Dads bond with sons, mothers with daughters.”
Interestingly, he also mentioned that he found the film an hour too long. Moreover, it seems the Los Angeles Lakers legend is not a big fan of the special effects in the film which drew large audiences across the world.
How did the film perform at the box office?
Legendary filmmaker James Cameron made a much-anticipated comeback to the silver screen with Avatar 2: The Way of Water. The film hit theatres worldwide on the 16th of December 2022.

As of today, the film has generated $2.24 billion worldwide and surpassed Titanic. Interestingly, James Cameron happens to be the director of both films. The sci-fi sequel sits behind Avatar (2009) and Avengers: Endgame in the collections rankings.
