The Boston Celtics are currently number one in the Eastern Conference and rightfully so. They have won 21 games in the season so far and lost just five. The Celtics recently played against the Phoenix Suns and obliterated them with a final score of 125-98. While the NBA world celebrated the win, so did Los Angeles Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. However, it did not go down so well with Lakers fans.

However, it was Magic’s first statement that grabbed a lot of eyeballs. One user wrote, “Lakers fans are throwing up“. Many fans came forward and questioned Magic’s loyalty. He also coincidentally happened to make that comment on Celtics legend Larry Bird’s 66th birthday.

Magic Johnson also posted a birthday message for his “enemy-turned-great friend” Larry Bird.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics were dominant dynasties for a long time. And these two proteges quickly became NBA champions and MVP winners.

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird transformed the NBA

ESPN said that their chemistry even changed the course of the league. It changed from a “minor” pro sport to the business it is today. It was also possibly because of them, that basketball became a well-rounded team game.

During an episode of ‘Club Shay Shay’, Magic Johnson said that their bond was fractured. “See, we hated them and they hated us. So we could never be friends,” Johnson explained.

Has Magic Johnson turned over a new leaf? Does his loyalty and allegiance lay elsewhere? The Lakers fans are certainly having none of it.
