Russell Westbrook on Beverley’s ejection against the Suns

Russell Westbrook isn’t having the time of his life in the 2022-23 season. His team is underperforming. To add insult to injury, he has to often bear the brunt of jokes and criticism from fans and the media. The Los Angeles Lakers‘ record is now 5-11 as they lost against Phoenix Suns recently. There’s nothing great for the Lakers to talk about now, except what Westbrook addressed in the post-match conference.

With 12 minutes to go in the game, a small altercation between the players led to Pat Beverley pushing Deandre Ayton in the back. There was an ejection of Beverley following that. In hindsight, Westbrook spoke about it in his post-match conference.

I mean I love it, personally. Protecting another saying that ‘We have each other’s backs ‘ is the most important part of a team,” said the 34-year-old when enquired about his thoughts on the matter.

These words from the nine-time All-Star will surely assure LA fans about the chemistry inside the purple and gold squad. Despite losing games, it’s certainly good to see teammates sticking up for each other instead of turning against each other.

However, Devin Booker had different thoughts on Beverley though, as he mentioned how the player should “stop pushing people in the back.” The Suns’ star’s foul on Austin Reaves started the whole incident.

Westbrook also mentioned how his team is improving “slowly, but surely.” Although fans are desperate for more wins on the record, Westbrook, and co. seem calmer than usual with players like Beverley showing passion in the game.
