Lakers Critic Skip Bayless Takes Cheap Shot at Russell Westbrook’s Documentary After Another Embarrassment

Before the Portland Trail Blazers met with the Los Angeles Lakers, the popular opinion was that the Blazers will come out victorious. And as soon as the first quarter came to an end, it became even more clear than ever. The Blazers came into this matchup with some momentum on their hands after defeating the Indiana Pacers 110-106. And left with some more, as they ended the game with a blowout 100-80 win against the purple and gold.

With the way that the Lakers have been suffering without LeBron James, now Russell Westbrook is bearing the brunt of the criticism. NBA Analyst, Skip Bayless, also saw his opening to fire some shots at Russ.

Why is Russell Westbrook being bashed?

After what happened last season, the Los Angeles Lakers organization realized that the team needed more people to rely on apart from LeBron James. Injuries taught them, that without Bron, the team faces a hard time getting victories. Hence, the Russell Westbrook trade took place and the ‘Big Three’ were finally formed.

However, the strategy would have only worked if Westbrook had played as well as he is expected to. Alas, that’s hardly the case. His start with the Lakers was hardly any good, although he is beginning to pick up his performances, it has done no good for them. The Lakers continue to lose games in Bron’s absence and here’s what Skip Bayless has to say.

“The Lakers acquired Westbrook to carry them in games LeBron missed. So far without LeBron, the Lakers have lost twice to OKC, and tonight they’re getting blown out at Portland. Yet a documentary of Westbrook’s life was just released.”

Will the Lakers’ star’s documentary take a hit because of it?

His inability to take the responsibility to lead the team to victories in Bron’s absence, will definitely not bode well with fans. And there couldn’t be a worse time for his documentary to come out.

His second documentary titled ‘Passion Play: Russell Westbrook’ came out on October 15. It revolves around his journey into the NBA till now, along with moments from his personal life.  Could his lackluster performance lead to the documentary facing even more criticism than it would have otherwise?

Moreover, this loss against the Blazers is worrisome for fans. There is no timeline for LeBron’s return as of yet. This could mean that the team might have to depend on Westbrook and AD for longer. And if Russ doesn’t do the needful, this means trouble is heading to LA.
