Despite having a great first team on paper, the team has not performed up to expectations, which has led to their downfall. While the team underperforms, star player LeBron James is definitely performing better than expected.

Lakers coach makes MVP claim for LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers are having a disappointing season, to say the least. They are currently placed 10th in their conference and are struggling for a playoff spot. Although a playoff spot might be difficult, it is not impossible, especially with someone like LeBron James on the team.

The 4 time NBA champion has been performing for the team almost single-handedly with little or no help from his teammates. Moreover, he crossed Karl Malone in the NBA All-Time scoring list and he is only behind Kareem Abdul Jabbar in terms of having the most points.

Although LeBron is having an MVP season, many believe he does not deserve the award given the sad state of his team. Talking about James’ MVP chances, coach Frank Vogel made a bold claim. According to him, “He [LeBron James] is as deserving for MVP consideration as anyone in the league.”

Currently LeBron is practically out of the MVP race with players like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the race.

Will LeBron win the MVP award?

LeBron James is a former MVP, and he will look to add to his glittering career. Being in his 19th year in the league, he is still dominating as if he were in his youth. Moreover, he is having one of the best seasons in terms of scoring.

James averages 30.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. Furthermore, he has the best scoring average in the league, followed closely by Joel Embiid.
