Banter always keeps the off-court game interesting. The ultimate champion of sparking banter, especially against the Clippers, is Lakers’ Jared Dudley. The 35-YO does not contribute much to defending champion’s box score but surely keeps them in the news with his remarks.

The NBA veteran recently published a new book in which he criticized his favorite target, the LA Clippers. He is someone who pays no heed to the negative remarks coming his way but also doesn’t shy from throwing critical comments from his end.

The LA Clippers coach laughed Dudley off

In his book, the Junkyard Dog wrote how Paul George disappointed the Lakers by thinking of himself as being on the same level as LeBron James and Anthony Davis. So after the Clippers’ washout win against the Cavs, the interviewers wanted their head coach’s reaction to the comment in the post-game interview.

A sarcastically chuckling Tyronn Lue responded, “A book? Jared Dudley? … I know I can’t cuss on here so I won’t, but who cares? Just be who you are, play your game. Who cares what people say? What the outside people think… We know how we feel about PG, our team, our organization, and that’s all that matters. He’s having a great season, a great year, he’s healthy, there are a lot of great things for his team… As far as for me, I don’t care about what people say on the outside, hope that PG does neither.”

Even PG very wisely refrained from reacting to the comments, and that is how the Clippers pushed aside a potential controversy.

Jared Dudley has always been tough on Steve Ballmer’s franchise

This was not the first time that the Lakers’ forward shot bullets at their LA-based counterparts. After the Clippers blew their 3-1 lead over the Denver Nuggets in WC semis, Jared knew he had enough material to target them.

In an October interview, he had said, “We were laughing. We were laughing in the sense like ‘I can’t believe it.’ I picked them to win Game 7 [vs. the Nuggets], there was no way I thought they were gonna lose. Our whole mind was, ‘we gotta beat the Clippers’… It was the trash-talking that happened; Pat Bev ‘check ball’ during the pandemic; Playoff P talking about he the best, him and Kawhi (Leonard); Kawhi with the commercials and the crown.”

He had then made fun of Paul George’s shot that hit the side of the backboard, and he just continued with that trash talk in his book. If anything, this will intensify the rivalry between the two teams. The Lakers had lost their last meeting against the Clippers. Do you think they can come back and add weight to Jared’s comments?
