Hours before going into battle, the Brooklyn Nets shocked the NBA world. News announcing the firing of head coach Steve Nash broke the internet. Analysts and other pundits debated the mutual separation. However, what about the opinion of a fellow head coach? Four-time NBA-winning head coach, Steve Kerr spoke about Nash’s exit and felt no coach could do any better than the Hall of Famer.

Nash entered a situation where the firepower was all present on paper. Likewise, Brooklyn fans expected the two-time MNP to have an easy road ahead. However, the script wasn’t built that way. In his first season, an emphatic playoff run was hurdled with injuries to both Kyrie Irving and James Harden. After the one-of-a-kind offensive trio broke up last season, KAI’s decisions caused him to miss the majority of the season. Hence, they were humiliated in the first round by the Boston Celtics.

Shockingly, the team lost their faith in Nash. The pre-season saga made the message loud and clear, Kevin Durant wasn’t a fan of their head coach. And after getting the second win of the season against the Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn pulled the trigger. But Kerr’s honest admission had fans behind Nash’s back.

When it comes to managing a superteam, Kerr certainly has some experience. Not only was he a part of the iconic Chicago Bulls dynasty as a player, but he also led an era of the Golden State Warriors with KD as head coach. As one of the most successful coaches, it came as a surprise when he said even he would be in the same spot if given Steve Nash’s position.

While Kerr extended his support, Nash’s destiny fell into the hands of his misfortune. While the Nets looked lethal on paper, they never really were the same team on the floor. Problems were a common theme in Nash’s short tenure as the head coach. From Irving’s absence to the loss of faith, the eight-time All-Star went through it all. For some reason or another, he never got a complete Brooklyn Nets roster over a long spell at his disposal.

However, not much can be argued when it comes to luck. For now, Steve Nash’s first stint as an NBA head coach was probably as dramatic as it could get. And there’s no telling if he will ever return back to the role again.
