Having lost his mother at a very young age, growing up was presented a challenge of its own to Irving. Nonetheless, he overcame all the difficulties, and proudly stands as one of the NBA’s best guards today. A year ago, the 7-time All-Star met his cousin, Char White Mountain, at a casino. In an interview with The Athletic, it was reported that Kyrie made a generous contribution towards the family.
Before the duo parted ways, Kyrie invited his cousin to his SUV, where he helped her out. “He stuck something in my bag, but I didn’t want to look at it,” she said. “I didn’t know what to expect. But after he left, and we said our goodbyes and all that, I looked and it was just a big wad of money.” She also claimed that some members of the family had inappropriately asked him for money on numerous other occasions.
