In his most recent game against the Bucks, he put on a 38 point performance to help the Nets earn a much-needed win. Furthermore, he has proved himself to be the leader of the team in the absence of Kevin Durant.

Upon earning the win, Kyrie sat down for a post-game interview with a huge smile. When questioned about how he felt about the new-look Nets, Kyrie had the following to say.

“When you’re playing with guys that are coming off the ball, being very selfless, putting their body on the line, and thinking the game, it just makes my job a lot easier to lead the offense as best I can as the point guard.”

Clearly, Kyrie seemed to be happy playing with his new teammates. However, it seemed as though his statement was a veiled dig at his former co-star, James Harden. This put fans on Twitter in a frenzy.

Furthermore, there were many fans who trolled Kyrie for the parts of his statement regarding selflessness from the team. They added that Harden, while on the Nets, was a pass-first player who sacrificed his scoring for the team’s benefit.

Furthermore, many fans were hyped after Kyrie’s statements. They were eagerly waiting for the March 10th matchup between the 76ers and the Nets and were even hoping for a playoff series between the two teams.

Kyrie and Harden Since the Trade

The last day of the trade deadline showcased the biggest move of the season. Harden and Simmons would exchange teams, giving both 76ers and Nets exactly what they needed. Although Simmons is yet to play for the Nets, Harden had an exciting first game for the 76ers. In fact, he almost had a triple-double with 27 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds.

Since Harden’s trade, Kyrie’s scoring has gone upwards. However, his assists and rebounds have remained more or less the same. Clearly, he has emerged as the Nets’ primary scorer since KD’s injury. This is why Simmons is a good fit for the Nets. Simmons’ ability to make plays will help both KD and Kyrie get efficient shots. So, in essence, the trade has benefitted both teams. And as mentioned by fans, it will be an exciting Sixers and Nets matchup on March 10th, 2022.
