Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has been stuck at a crossroads this entire season. The New York municipal authorities released a notification that unvaccinated players of the Nets cannot play home games. Therefore, Kyrie is restricted from playing any games at Barclays Center.
Kyrie never took the COVID-19 vaccine due to personal reasons. Therefore, he has missed all home games this season. Kyrie has expressed his displeasure over this mandate quite a few times. However, he was recently shown support by the NBA Commissioner himself.
Adam Silver recently said that he finds the rule to be a little unfair and biased. The rule only applies to players of New York and not to anyone else. Unvaccinated players from other teams are allowed to play at the Barclays Center. Notably, this is something the NBA Commissioner himself found faulty.
