In one of the recent episodes of ESPN’s morning television program, ‘Get Up’, Windhorst indicated how Irving could land up in Phoenix in the offseason. During the show, the now 45-year-old said, “Well, first off, I?d like to just point out that Kyrie and James Harden are free agents in the summer. So if you think this is over, it ain?t over. Kyrie was really interested in being in Phoenix. So just start thinking about that. But let?s put that off to the side.”
Before his move to the Mavericks, the 30-year-old and the Suns showed mutual interest in each other, but not much happened. However, as the 2016 NBA champion is on an expiring contract, he would be a free agent this offseason. Therefore, there is a high chance of Irving re-uniting with Durant.

Irving could be the perfect replacement for?Chris Paul. The 12-time All-Star is currently on the wrong side of 35 and would be 38 years old before the next season starts. Therefore, he could announce his retirement anytime shortly. In addition, lately, the former MVP needs to perform up to his standards and is currently averaging a career-low 13.6 points per game. Unfortunately, the Suns’ guard can also not stay on the hardwood for a prolonged period due to his injuries. Therefore, considering all these factors, the 30-year-old is the perfect replacement for the 37-year-old veteran.
What are your thoughts on Windhorst’s statements? Would Irving leave the Mavericks in the off-season to join the Suns? Let us know in the comments below.
