John Salley, the former four-time NBA champion has seemingly defended Kyrie Irving from the comments of NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The former Los Angeles Lakers icon hit out on the Brooklyn Nets star after Irving’s refusal to accept his fault.

Irving received heavy criticism after posting a link to a documentary film released in 2018 on Twitter a few days ago. Many criticized him for the alleged promotion of the film.

Last week, the former NBA champion received a five-match suspension with no pay. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shared a scathing reaction to Kyrie Irving’s actions. Abdul-Jabbar was not happy with Irving’s unapologetic demeanor.

Furthermore, he questioned Irving’s education for his actions. He also supported the views of NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, and Charles Barkley toward Kyrie Irving.

John Salley reflects on the comments of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

John Salley was not a fan of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s comments on Kyrie Irving. In an interview with NFL legend and analyst Shannon Sharpe, Salley expressed his views on the Irving saga. When Sharpe asked if Abdul-Jabbar was out of bounds with his statements on Irving. He stated that Abdul-Jabbar crossed a line with his comments. He said, “It was a hundred percent out of bounds.”

Salley also thought of Abdul-Jabbar as being “asinine” regarding his comments on Irving’s education. He did not take it easy on the legend as he suggested someone is making him make controversial comments like this to stay relevant in this day and age. Salley also cited Irving’s Duke education and expressed that no one could question his education and thought that Abdul-Jabbar went too far with his words.

Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets are struggling this season. Despite giving consistent performances whenever he played, the team is still struggling. So far he has averaged 26.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.1 rebounds in eight games before receiving the suspension. And his absence and the controversy surrounding him have not been helpful for the Nets.
