This NBA season has been a rollercoaster ride for the Dallas Mavericks. Their chances to make it to the playoffs for the 2022-23 season are looking pretty bleak. However, many eyes are locked on their newest star, Kyrie Irving, whose season has followed quite a similar path. From being handed a suspension at the beginning of the season to his current team’s problems in the league, Irving has clearly gone through a lot this year. However, a former NBA star recently mentioned how Irving’s situation wasn’t something unpredictable, as it followed a similar pattern.
Amidst KAI’s recent comments on the Mavericks’ poor performance, one ex-NBA star has come out to heavily criticize the 2016 NBA champion for his poor choices throughout his career.?

The Dallas Mavericks currently sit at the 11th position in their Conference, a record that none of the Mavericks fans thought would exist as of last month. However, it has become too big of an issue to go unnoticed.?
As KAI and Doncic are finding it difficult to co-exist on the court, the frustration from Irving has been slowly bubbling up. In fact, the 31-year-old star recently mentioned how the Mavs’ situation currently looks like “a bit of a clusterf**k“.?
In a recent episode of NBA Today, Kendrick Perkins was evidently displeased with Irving’s comments, as he highlighted how he thought KAI himself had been the cause of his problems throughout his entire career. The former NBA star went on a rant to dissect the problems with the eight time All-Star’s decision-making process.
“When it comes to his[Kyrie Irving?s] decision-making, he’s horrible,” said Perkins.?
He added, “And let’s go all the way back to his time in Cleveland, you’re in Cleveland with LeBron James. You have went to multiple Finals. You won the championship there and you force your way out. Then all of a sudden you get to Boston, you promised the Celtic fans that you’re going to be there. You had an opportunity to actually grow and play with Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown. You bounced on them.”
After pointing out how Irving bounced from an in-form Brooklyn side led by KD as well, Big Perk stated, “So my thing is to Kyrie.. forget where they’re at right now. They’re not going to make the play-in tournament. What do Kyrie want for his legacy?”

Perkins heavily emphasized how many of Irving’s decisions do not make sense to anyone in the basketball world, while recalling his poor choices since leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers. Furthermore, his situation with the Dallas side has not been beneficial to him. Since his arrival, many have been highlighting how the team has completely lost touch.
