NBA stars are more than just athletes. Thanks to the immense popularity of the league and the game, stars like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James have millions of followers worldwide. Moreover, NBA stars are well known for their off-the-court activities and ventures as well.

Interestingly enough, an NBA star’s off-court activities once saved his life. It is none other than the former Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers star Lou Williams.

Back in 2011, Williams was held at gunpoint by an armed robber. However, the assailant happened to be a fan of the basketball star and that changed his mind. Moreover, Williams also treated the robber to a meal at McDonald’s!

Williams said, “A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community. He’s a Lou Williams fan so he didn’t rob me.

Lou was an integral part of Kobe’s final season in the NBA i.e the 2015-16 season. Previously, he has had successful seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and his stardom eventually saved his life.

How did Kobe Bryant perform playing with Lou?

The 76ers drafted Lou Williams during the 2005 draft as the 45th overall pick. He had a successful stint at teams like the Toronto Raptors and the Atlanta Hawks before joining the Lakers during the 2015-16 season.

Playing with Lou, Kobe Bryant averages 16.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 53 games. This happened to be Kobe’s last season in the NBA. He retired after 20 seasons in the league and with a trophy cabinet like no other.

Bryant has 5 NBA titles to his name with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside 2 Finals MVP awards and a regular season MVP award. Moreover, he has been selected to the All-Star game on 18 occasions.
