Kobe said, “I actually had a very good and fun workout with the Clippers (the crowd starts booing) and they told me you know this is one of the best workout we have ever seen… so I am like aww man I will come to LA.. are you gonna draft me.”
He continued, “They said well we are trying to turn around things in this organization and we felt like if we draft a 17-year-old kid then the city of Los Angeles wouldn’t take us seriously so we can’t draft you.”

Under Jerry West, the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Kobe on draft day. He was the thirteenth overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. Charlotte Hornets then traded him to the Lakers.
Kobe then arrived at the shores of LA and wouldn’t leave it ever. In his time there, he created records and forever etched his name in the history books of the game.
