The New York Knicks this season have been struggling to make an impact in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. With their most recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Knicks now sit 12th in the East with a 24-28 record. As of now, their star duo of Julius Randle and RJ Barrett are unable to change the course for the franchise.
However, back in the ’90s, the Knicks were a powerhouse in the East. Many would take the name of Patrick Ewing as the star of Knicks during that time, but one man who was a defensive powerhouse for the team was Charles Oakley. Spending 10 years with the Knicks, Oakley averaged a double-double in terms of points and rebounds along with nearly 50% shooting. Clearly, he was part of the Knicks’ core that earned them success.
In a recent interview on ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ the Knicks’ legend narrated a story about a beef he had with NBA legend Dennis Rodman, which involved kicking him out of a restaurant.

Oakley’s Beef with Rodman
During the interview, Draymond Green asked about a story from Oakley’s book, which involved Dennis Rodman being kicked out of a steakhouse.
Oakley mentioned that Rodman and himself were at South Beach for an appearance together, after which the two decided to meet at Oakley’s steakhouse later that day. On his way to meet Rodman, Oakley stopped at a restaurant about 30 minutes before he was supposed to meet Rodman. Thereafter, he would get a call from the steakhouse manager with a complaint about Rodman.
“7:20, the manager of the steakhouse called me, ‘Oh! Get here.’ I said what’s going on? ‘You won’t believe what Dennis doing.’ I said ‘what he doing?’ He said, ‘he eating off people’s plates,”’ he added explaining what Rodman was doing at his steakhouse.

Oakley would then walk over to the steakhouse and look through the window, only to see Rodman actually eating off of people’s plates. He would then go over to Rodman and question him on his actions, to which Rodman responded that he was just relaxing and trying to entertain. Oakley would then grab Rodman, walk him outside the restaurant, and say the following.
“Don’t you ever come around me again in life!” exclaimed Oakley.

Oakley explained that even though Rodman was trying to be funny, his actions were out of hand, especially because it was a high-end steakhouse. Clearly, this incident created a beef between the two, despite them having mutual respect for each other on the court.
