Golden State Warriors star guard Klay Thompson is reportedly making a comeback in the 2021-22 season. While the Dubs are awaiting his presence on the court, a few of his former teammates including Matt Barnes reminisced interesting stories of the 5-time All-Star.
Two years back during Game 6 of the NBA Finals between Warriors and the Toronto Raptors, Klay Thompson suffered an ACL injury. Since then one of the Splash brothers hasn’t been in action.
Matt Barnes, a former GSW player, shared the court with Klay Thompson in 2017 when they won the NBA title. While it was Matt’s first and only career ring after 14 seasons, Klay was heading for his third one in 2018.

Teammates display affinity towards Klay Thompson
Klay has been an ever-lovable teammate and player throughout his time in the league. Matt Barnes and several current and ex-Warriors talked about Klay with affinity. His at-ease demeanor is what attracts many towards the 3-time NBA champion and that’s even evident on his social media accounts.
In conversation with ‘The Athletic‘, Matt Barnes narrated one peculiar instance about Thompson. “We (Warriors) had just won the Western Conference Finals. Everyone was enjoying everything, talking and eating and having a drink. And here’s Klay with two 9-year-olds at his locker, teaching them how to make paper airplanes and flying them across the locker room.”

After Klay’s unfortunate injury, Golden State hasn’t won a championship ever since. Last year, their season ended early on in the Play-in tournament despite Stephen Curry displaying a season of brilliance.
The last time Klay was up and running in 2019, he averaged 20.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the playoff season. An Achilles injury against the Raptors led to a long break for Klay Thompson. But he has been showing signs of recovery since last year. He was spotted making shots during game breaks and other training sessions that eventually came as a breather for GSW fans.
Klay is expected to return to the league on the Christmas day match against the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the moment that the Dubs nation has been waiting for for a long time.
