Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors took on the Los Angeles Lakers in a highly anticipated matchup. Both the teams have had contrasting seasons. The Warriors had been playing some brilliant basketball and are currently second in the West. Meanwhile, the Lakers who made big offseason moves, have had a disappointing run and are ninth in the conference.

The Warriors prevailed in a closely contested match which saw the lead swing 8 times. The Lakers were down by 15, but they fought back to take the lead. Klay Thompson went off in the fourth quarter as he had 16 points. He ended the game with 33 points as the Warriors won 117-115.

LeBron James led the scoring for the Lakers as he had 26 points. It was a historic night for LeBron as he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leading scorer in NBA History, including playoffs. LeBron needed 18 points to pass Kareem, and he passed him in the third quarter of the game with a three.

Jonathan Kuminga had another great game as he continues to impress in his rookie season. He ended the game with 18 points on 8-11 shooting and he was excellent on the defensive end. He guarded LeBron James in the closing stages and he did a very good job on him. Klay Thompson raved about Kuminga in the post-game press conference.

“He just guarded LeBron James,” says Klay Thompson

Klay was asked what the team sees in the 19-year-old Kuminga. He said ,” I mean, isn’t that crazy he’s not gonna be in the rising stars game. He just guarded LeBron James for however many minutes. Gave us 18 on 11 shots. And almost a double-double”

Kuminga wasn’t named in the squad for the rising stars game and he has been one of the finds of the season. The former G league player made his way to the roster on a two-way contract. He has been a really good find for the Warriors and has had some huge games for them this season. It was really surprising to see him not being named in the rising stars’ game. Kuminga will hope that he can prove everyone wrong by winning the title with the Warriors.
