Injuries are one of the biggest concerns for any athlete. While playing, suffering an injury can put a pause to all the momentum one has achieved. Likewise, Klay Thompson suffered back-to-back injuries and hasn’t been in an NBA game since 2019.

Thompson first suffered an injury in the 2019 NBA finals. The Golden State Warriors were already shorthanded as they lost Kevin Durant in the previous game. However, things got worse when Klay went down with an injury, putting an end to their championship hopes.

Later, Klay injured his ACL in training and missed the entire season. Now he is finally set to return and is confident in himself.

Recently, Klay sat down with Brian Scalabrine and Frank Isola to discuss the Warriors this season. In the chat, the topic of his return came up. While Thompson isn’t expecting instant results, he is confident that he will contribute and is feeling good about the team.

Thompson said: “Actually on media day we all had to write down our goals and every single player wrote championship. So I love where our mindsets at as far as being unified. But, I was playing the best basketball of my life in 2019 when I got hurt. I expect to be back there, not right away just because that was 100 games worth of work and incredible shape. But when I step back on the floor, I’m going to be a very effective player.”

In the regular season, Thompson was putting up great numbers. The sharpshooter averaged 21 points, 3.8 rebounds, and a steal per game. He was an important part on the offensive end and one of the best perimeter defenders as well.

He continued his momentum through to the playoffs as he averaged 20.7 points on 44% shooting from beyond the arc. However, he went down in Game 5 of the NBA finals, which turned out to be the final nail to the Warriors’ coffin. They lost the final and even lost KD and Klay in the following season.
