The recent NBA draft has put Victor Wembanyama under the spotlight. Considered the greatest NBA prospect since LeBron James, Wembanyama is all set to make his debut this season as a San Antonio Spurs rookie. While comparisons are natural, he has maintained a level head so far and doesn’t seem to be affected by all the noise around him. To add to his rising stock, the 7’4 star recently got an open challenge from a toddler, which left fans in awe of the French sensation.

The 19-year-old giant was the first overall pick in this year’s draft. The 2023 NBA draft is expected to go down in history as the Wembanyama draft.

The excitement around Wembanyama was palpable. Despite the Draft being on June 22, the 19-year-old’s destination was pretty-much sealed after the lottery on May 17. He was the obvious first pick in this year’s draft, although the class consisted of some great wings. However, he left a young fan with an ever-lasting memory.

During the NBA Draft week in Ney York, Wembanyama conversed with a young fan who claimed that he “can slam dunk over somebody…and it’s you.” The 7’4 tall star couldn’t help but smile at the child’s ambitious challenge. To this, Wemby endearingly replied, “Alright, I’ll see you in the NBA.”

Fans were losing their minds over Wembanyama’s humility. They couldn’t help but adore this conversation, as the most wanted player in the history of the NBA accepted a toddler’s challenge. Wemby hyping up the kid with, “You want to do a slam dunk contest?” was too cute to miss.

The comment section is off the hook

Wemby’s fans went berserk in the comments section. Some fans, like Wemby, were rooting for the kid. One of them said, “20 years from now, this kid is gonna do it on an Old Wemby,” while another affirmed, “It would be legendary if the kid goes to the NBA.”
