When it looked like the Los Angeles Lakers would cruise to the play in tournament, the Chicago Bulls came in to form a major hurdle in their story. Led by the quirkiness of Patrick Beverley, they demolished LeBron James and Co. in their own home. From there, the 17-time champions sought revenge. Playing them once again, this time the Lakers piled it on in front of the Bulls’ home crowd. The front of the attack was none other than the Lake Show’s dynamic center, Anthony Davis.
The Chicago Bulls had no answer for the dominance that Davis would unload on them. Following the eight-time All-Star’s ferocious display, James revealed the secret behind bringing that animal out of AD.

Analysts have long had the debate about it being Davis’ time to lead the Lakers. In certain stretches, the 2012 number-one pick has shown the Laker Nation just that. However, the 30-year-old has struggled to consistently play at an assertive level. When he does though, it is only Anthony Davis himself who can stop it. His powerful night against the Chicago Bulls was merely a snap of what carnage the Brow is capable of.
In a game for vengeance, Davis went off for 38 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He was the driving force behind the Lakers’ 121-110 win over Chicago. As spectators, it seems the taunting and antics the Bulls had during their last battle were responsible for Davis’ outburst. However, according to LeBron James, his counterpart always plays at such a level.
The confident James said, “He always plays like that…Just got to kick him in the a** every now and then. But he always plays like that so I never worry about him.”?

The last stretch of consistency we saw from Anthony Davis was arguably his superhuman production in the month of December. For nearly a month, AD was believed to be the best player on the planet. His output was synonymous with that of MVP numbers. Over a ten-game stretch, he averaged 35.3 points, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks. It was exactly what the Lakers expected from the big man when they traded for him in 2019.
Now, with the remainder of the games make or break for the Lakers, what does the franchise need from their young superstar?

What do the Lakers need from Anthony Davis?
Davis’ performance against the Chicago Bulls was the perfect image of the brand of basketball that suits him. The four-time All-NBA first-team selection owned the inside and generated a constant flow of points for the Lakers. At a time when LeBron James is only returning, AD needs to stay true to this style of play.
His two-way basketball elevates the Lakers to a new realm. Since acquiring the new group, the 2020 champions have ranked among the best defenses in the NBA. Much of the reason for their resurgence is the rim protection Anthony Davis offers. Now with ruthless on-ball defenders such as Jared Vanderbilt and Austin Reaves rising high, the Lakers look scary when healthy.
